OM EL SHAHMAAN

It is with heavy – yet celebratory – hearts that we announce the passing of the great Om El Shahmaan. He died peacefully on Thursday night.

Om El Shahmaan was the torchbearer of the El Shaklan legacy, and did so mightily. He shared his glorious inner and outer beauty to sons and daughters across all continents of the earth.

But he was much more than just a picturesque breeding stallion … so much more. He was a kind soul, gentle and sensitive, acutely attuned to his audience in an almost humanlike manner. Everyone was safe in his presence… elderly or children, it did not matter.

It is also noteworthy to mention the bond he shared with Janina. And though not surprising given their similar characteristics of gentleness, intuitiveness and loving kindness, it was nonetheless breathtaking to witness.

The difficult fact that he left us on the 6-month anniversary of Sigi’s passing paints what seems to a heartbreaking scenario at first glance. But perhaps there is more to this story. Perhaps it is actually a celebration. Sigi and Om El Shahmaan are reunited at last, joining Estopasan, Sanadik, El Shaklan and *Estopa. And there is power in this family. Om El Bellissimo, Om El Al Azeem will carry the torch from now on, putting their own mark on the continuing Om El Arab legacy.

Sigi would have her 66th birthday on Saturday. We celebrate her by giving her Shahmaan today. And sending them both as much love as we can squeeze in between heaven and earth.

Rest in peace, Shahmaan. Take Sigi for her birthday ride today.
