ESTOPASAN
1985 — 2016
(*RASTANO x *ESTOPA)
Estopasan was the last living son of the legendary *Estopa. *Estopa was selected in the 1999 December issue of Arabian Horse World Quarterly as being one of 'Europe's Top 5 Most Influential Mares of the Century. *Estopa had been bred to the straight Egyptian *Morafic son, Shaker El Masri, to produce *El Shaklan and his full brother and sisters, a cross that became known around the world as the "Golden-Cross."
When *Estopa was nineteen years old the decision was made to breed her to a pure Spanish stallion to preserve her Spanish heritage. The stallion chosen for this important mating was *Rastano. *Rastano was imported as a young stallion from Spain and was bred by Mr. Osuna Escalera, the same breeder who had bred *Estopa. Sigi had seen *Rastano's dam, Arilla, on a visit to Spain and felt that Arilla was one of the most beautiful mares she had seen anywhere. Don Osuna bred Arilla to Jaguay, a full brother to Galero, (sire of *An Malik) and owned by the Spanish State Stud, to produce *Rastano.
In 1985 *Estopa delivered a handsome son by *Rastano and he was named Estopasan. Estopasan developed into an elegant stallion and embodied many of the qualities of his dam and of his Spanish heritage. He was tall and elegant and structurally correct. His bones and joints were large and his feet round. His neck was long and his body smoothly coupled. His temperament was kind and gave off an air of gentle pride. He looked functional, yet elegant. We showed Estopasan as a younger stallion and he earned the Champion title each time shown.

THE ESTOPASAN OFFSPRING
Estopasan is a vital component to our breeding program and his offspring have been highly sought after by breeders around the world. His daughters are wonderful producers and a successful cross for us was breeding them to *Sanadik El Shaklan. One representative of that cross is Om El Jimala who was twice named US National Reserve Champion Senior Mare.
