OM EL BINT SHAINA
1994 — 2019 GREY MARE
(*SHAREM EL SHEIKH x OM EL SHAINA)
Om El Bint Shaina has been described by many as the epitome of the classic Arabian mare. It is easy to be enchanted her captivating beauty and gentle feminine elegance, and it takes little imagination to picture her in the desert by a Bedouin tent. However, it is as a broodmare that she reins supreme. Her production record is extraordinary, she not only gives us exceptional females but also superior stallions as well. Her son, Om El Exquisit by *Sanadik El Shaklan, is one of our breeding stallions at Om El Arab. Her progeny have been exported all over the world and include many famous names including multi champions Om El Extreem, Om El Exotica, Om El Excella.
Om El Bint Shaina was featured in the 2012 Arabian Horse World Magazine Dams of Distinction Profile:
For this year’s Dams of Distinction Sigi and I would like to feature a very special lady named Om El Bint Shaina. Bint Shaina was born in 1994, the first foal of the *Estopa daughter, Om El Shaina and by the illustrious show horse *Sharem El Sheikh. Bint Shaina has had 14 foals so far and has made an indelible mark around the world with her progeny.
Her first daughter, by *Sanadik El Shaklan, is Om El Bishara. She was exported to Australia as a yearling and is still breeding at Eagleridge Arabian Stud. Bishara has distinguished herself as quite a broodmare at Eagleridge. She is the dam of the 2009 Australian Champion filly Ishaar ERA and Multi-Champion Stallion Woolf.
Bint Shaina’s second foal, Om El Extreem by *Sanadik El Shaklan, may be her most famous son. Extreem is owned by Complutum Arabians of Spain and was on lease to Ajmaan Stud. His titles include Spanish National Champion Stallion , Al Khalediah Reserve Champion Stallion, Sharjah Champion Stallion. Om El Extreem is a classic Om El Arab horse. His face is one of the most beautiful stallion faces in the world today.
Bint Shaina’s third foal was Om El Exotica. She was the female version of her older full-brother Om El Extreem. Exotica has the same style of face with the extreme dish, large jowl and fine muzzle. Exotica was briefly owned by Silver Maple Farm and now calls Sharjah her home. She was shown to Frankfurt International Senior Champion Mare.
Om El Evita also by *Sanadik is Bint Shaina’s fourth foal. She was exported to Belgium as a yearling and is still owned by Leon Vandenbroek. She has crossed wonderfully with their stallion Khidar.
Om El Eminence, another full-sibling was sold to Australia as a yearling. He has won countless championships in halter and under saddle and is still proudly owned by Rod Payne.
Om El Exquisit resides at Om El Arab. We feel that he is one of the best producing stallions to come from our long line of breeding stallions. His genetic potential is incredible. Exquisit’s children ooze type, size and powerful bodies. His ability to sire stallion quality colts and foundation mare quality fillies consistently is very special.
Om El Elegance, by *Sanadik El Shaklan is proudly owned by Mindy Peters. She is a big, bay, powerful mare. Her foals have already been exported to the Middle East.
Bint Shaina was bred twice to World Champion Stallion Al Lahab resulting in two exceptional fillies. The elder sister, Om El Enigma, owned by Ajman Stud in the UAE, was shown to 2008 Frankfurt International Junior Champion Mare. The younger sister Om El Excella is quite possibly one of the most beautiful mares to come from our breeding program. She resides at Om El Arab and charms visitors from far and near with her ethereal beauty. Her show wins include World Cup Bronze Junior Champion Filly and World Cup Silver Champion Mare ATH. Her son by Om El Bellissimo was exported to Namibia this year. We have her two very pretty daughters at Om El Arab.
Om El Bint Shaina was bred to her steadfast partner, *Sanadik El Shaklan, one last time the year before his passing. The resulting filly, Om El Euphoria, will stay with us as a broodmare. She has that similar look of extreme type that has distinguished her elder siblings. Her first foal, a colt by US Reserve National Champion Stallion, Om El Al Azeem is lovely.
Om El Bint Shaina was then bred to Dreamcatcher SMF and produced a gorgeous, dark bay filly we named Om El Shabah Dream. She is very much the bay version of her mother. She is in foal for 2013 to Om El Bellissimo. We are eagerly looking forward to that cross.
In 2011 Bint Shaina had a lovely colt by the straight Egyptian stallion *Alfabia Ajib. He has been exported to Germany and is proudly owned by Mila Khamis of Bebo Stud.
It was with sorrow that we realized Bint Shaina couldn’t carry her own foals anymore. She had been so fertile her entire life and has always been the quintessential mother, giving her all to each and every foal. She was the type of mare that produced enough milk to feed several babies resulting in very fat foals and a lean Bint Shaina. Thankfully we have embryo transfer as a tool to help wonderful mares like Om El Bint Shaina continue breeding. She continues to be incredibly fertile and gave us three embryos this season with WH Justice. It is with sweet anticipation that Sigi and I await next year’s foaling season. It will be especially interesting to see what Om El Bint Shaina will produce with her newest super-star match.
Om El Bint Shaina had two foals with WH Justice, Om El Aneesah who calls Aljassimya Farm home and Om El Epona. Her last gift to our breeding program was a beautiful grey filly by Aziim Al Amaar named Om El Elara. Om El Bint Shaina was a true warrior mare. She lived her life bravely and transitioned to greener pastures in May of 2019.
