ELRAN ARABIAN-CUP 2001
Borgloon, Belgium
August 18 & 19, 2001
The first annual Elran Arabian Cup was held in Belgium on the elegant grounds of the Castle van Rulligan. This was the most elegant show I have ever attended. The 17th century castle with ivy crawling up the tower, elegant expanses of clipped green lawns and emerald ponds, created a classic setting. With many of the shows in Europe cancelled this year due to the foot-and-mouth epidemic, coupled with a popular panel of international judges, made this a must-do show for many of Europe's show strings.

Congratulations to Trevor and Sue Patrick of Redwood Lodge Arabians for having a fantastic show. They bred the Junior Champion Filly and the Reserve Junior Champion Stallion at arguably Europe's most prestigious show. That is an amazing accomplishment for one farm. We are most pleased with the results because the Patricks acquired much of their breeding stock from us and our bloodlines.

THE ALL NATION’S CUP
Aachen, Germany
September 23 & 24, 2000
By Janina Merz , Breeding Manager, Om El Arab International
One of the most exciting Arabian Horse shows in the world in many people’s eyes, is the All Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany. The quality of the horses is superb and the presentation of horses is exciting. The arena is packed with Arabian enthusiasts from around the world who cheer on their favorite horses as they trot into the ring. The air is charged with electricity. This phenomenon is due partly to the loud music that accompanies the entrance of each horse, but mostly it has to be attributed to the gorgeous Arabians that are presented there. I once again was able to attend this years’ All Nations Cup which was held the 23-24 of September and was once again exhilarated. The Om EL Arab influence at the show was remarkable and I was proud to watch horses that we had bred , as well as horses who were relatives of our program, compete at this prestigious show.
On Saturday morning the yearling fillies were presented and the winner of this very strong class was the beautiful EF Dream Diva by Magic Dream and out of Countess Shabaska who is an *El Shaklan grandaughter. This gorgeous filly went on to win the title of Junior Champion filly on Sunday afternoon.
In that same class the third place went to FL Marsaba who is by Ibn Yathreb, a straight Egyptian stallion that we sold for Kareem Abdul Jabaar to Germany, and out of the gorgeous Om El Sanaya (*Carmargue x *Bint Shaker), who we still co-own with the family Letsch of Germany.
The yearling colts were presented next and the winner of that class also went on to win the male Junior Championship on Sunday, his name is Aja Sangali, by FS Bengali, out of Om El Sanadiva, by *Sanadik and out of Bey Santeyna who is also *El Shaklan related. The third place colt in this class was Akhenaten, an El Mokari (*Sanadik El Shaklan’s full brother) son, and out of an Atlantica daughter, who is by *El Shaklan.
The two- year old filly class was another high quality class and very exciting to watch. The winner was El Dorada, the gorgeous *Sanadik El Shaklan daughter out of Emigrantka owned and bred by Michalow State Stud in Poland. Second place in that class was the Australian bred, Redwood Lodge Romantik, who is by Espano Estopa and out of an *El Shaklan daughter. Espano Estopa’s mother is the *Estopa daughter, Malikah Estopa, and his sire is Om El Abadan, by *Carmargue and out of our *Bint Estopa. I was thrilled to see these gorgeous fillies side by side.
The three year old colt class was also heavily influenced by the Om El Arab lines. First place went to FL Sayawan, a full brother to FL Marsaba that I mentioned above. In third place was Redwood Lodge Abadaar who is by Om El Abadan and out of Om EL Amira Estopa, who is by *Sanadik El Shaklan and out of *Bint Estopa. In fourth place was Om El Bendigo who is by *Sanadik El Shaklan and out of our *Estopa daughter Om EL Beneera.
The eleven-year old stallion class was dominated by the *El Shaklan son, El Sher-Mann, who wowed the crowd with his wonderful charisma.
We would like to congratulate all the breeders and owners of the horses mentioned and also thank them for their enthusiastic support for Om El Arab bloodlines. |
